Cartagena de Indias
is a city located in the north Caribbean coast of Colombia, around 500 years
ago this place was an important port, for this reason and all that this city are experiment we can find
an interesting and very varied cultures; starting whit the native, Spanish , Africans,
and Arabs; all of this in one of the most beautiful city in the earth.
TIPICAL FOOD
Almost all of the
typical food of Cartagena is based on products of the sea because this city is
located in the north Caribbean coast; although the principal plates of this
city are based on fish, we also can find plate’s rabbit as its principal
ingredient; in spite of all of this typical food. We can also find other kind
of typical food as for example “buñuelito de frijol”. It is dough that is fried
in plenty of oil comes filled with beans and sweet corn, this have sweet taste and
optionally accompanied with coastal cheese. We can also find restaurants whit
normal plate if you don’t like to experiment.
NATURAL RESOURCES
The principal
resource of Cartagena is the Caribbean ocean, because a lot of people work in
it, for example: fishing, like a tour guide, driving a boat, doing a lot of things;
another big resource of Cartagena is its beach, a lot of people only go to
Cartagena to stay in his beautiful beach and relax in the day, because when the
night comes out the city transform in other city.
WEATHER
Cartagena is a city with an average relative humidity of
85%, from December to March months are usually quite breeze and a pleasant
climate.
TOURISTIC SITES
Archipelago of Nuestras Señora Del Rosario: From the 23 islands, Keys and small islands that are
part of the archipelago of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, five are in front of
shores of Cartagena.
Bolivar Square: Is the main square of the city, this square is near the
Gold Museum, The Bank of the Republic, The Palace of the Inquisition, The
Library Bartolomé Calvo, The Governor´s office and the cathedral. In the center
of the square there is the statue of the liberator Simón Bolívar.
Catedral Church: Is also called as the Minor Basilica, this was the
first church of the city built in Coliseo Street in 1537.
Church and Convent of the Popa: Constructed in XVII century by the Agustinian priests,
it is at the height of 150m in the top of a hill.
Church of San Pedro Claver: It was constructed in 1580, in the high altar there
are the remains of San Pedro Claver, he was nicknamed as “the apostle of the
slaves”

Gold museum: It is located
in front of Bolívar Park; it exhibits pieces of the various pre- Columbian
Cultures.
Also there are others
places very visited for tourist, for example The walled city is the historic
center of the city of Cartagena de Indias and was declared national heritage
both Colombia and Heritage, its beaches and sea, other big monuments, other
important squares, Botanic gardens, etc.
